**UPDATE: Thanks to everyone's extreme generosity we reached our original goal of $1,000 way quicker than I imagined, so upping the ante to $2,500!**
Hello everyone,
My name is Steve Froeschle. I am a 25-year-old amateur marathoner and pizza enthusiast from Davenport, Iowa and currently living in Dubuque, Iowa.
Amidst the chaos and uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, I have been searching for a way to give back to those in the healthcare profession, while also supporting small local businesses—specifically local running stores. I believe that running specialty stores are the backbone to a vibrant running community, and unfortunately they are not immune to these tough economic times.
After thinking of a way to give back to both the local business community and those working on the frontlines, I came up with a plan earlier this week that puts my running and pizza eating skills to use. I have decided that starting tomorrow, April 5, over the course of 1 week, I will be attempting to run 100 miles, eat 100 slices of pizza, and raise $1,000. With the money raised, I will be purchasing gift cards to both @RunningWild and @FleetFeetDavenport and donating those gift cards to healthcare workers to purchase comfortable and supportive footwear for those long days on their feet.
It is my hope that this venture can offer some support to healthcare workers and local small businesses, while also providing people with a small source of entertainment as they follow along on my week-long journey. Be sure to follow me on Instagram @stevefroeschle for daily updates, and if running yourself, be sure to do so responsibly and keep your distance from others!
Thank you for your support!
