Laura runs 100 miles for ELM Wildlife
ELM Wildlife is a registered charity in Devon that rescues and rehabilitates sick, injured and orphaned wildlife before releasing back to the wild. The vast majority of the animals they take in are hedgehogs.
ELM have been in operation since 2018, however are now under threat of closure. ELM is in need of funds to help with the construction of a new center, as well as all the daily running costs to tend to the animals in their care.
I am a volunteer at the center, and see first hand the hard work and dedication of ELM and all its volunteers to help wildlife in need.
On 4th May 2024, I attempted my first ever 100 mile run to fundraise for ELM Wildlife, from London to Oxford. Unfortunately, a rolled ankle and some wrong turns lost me too much time on the course to finish within the cut off, and I finished my run at 74 miles.
On 12th Oct 2024, I’m making attempt No. 2! I will be starting from the village of Goring (which is where I dropped out at 74 miles previously) and aim to complete a series of out and backs to run 100 miles (hopefully!).
How can you help?
- Donate to this page! As a charity, ELM rely on donations to help animals in need.
- Share this page! The more people that are aware, the wider the reach.
- Become a volunteer! If you are local to the area, volunteers are needed everyday to assist with cleaning and daily tasks.
I’ll be posting training updates here for anyone interested, and don't forget to check out ELM Wildlife on Facebook!
