100 years of Brown Hall
Donation protected
The Beaver Bank Community Hall or Brown Hall as it is know by almost all the people is going to be 100 in 2021. The hall has served the community of Beaver Bank, scouting, guiding, seniors, darts and for private events like birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and many youth groups private and community based. The hall was planning to celebrate its birthday next year with hopefully a large fundraiser as it exists by only the rental income from user groups. The hall is not supported by any subsidies from government except some assistance by discretionary funds of the local councillor and some donations when required from local organizations like Lions club, Awareness association, kinsman club and where ever the chair could find some extra cash.
Now with the times the way it is with the Covid-19 the hall has been closed since March and has no income just the normal expenses like insurance, lights, heat, water, phone, internet and all the other little costs that add up. We are down over 6,000.00 dollars income to the end of August and the reserve funds we had are just about depleated.
This is a last resort effort for us at the Brown hall to have to go to this extent as we have been pretty well self supporting over the years and people just do not realize that we survive on a very small budget and our main expenses we have are insurance, plowing/salting in winter, cleaning and electrical. We hope that after this Covid we can continue to serve the community of Beaver Bank another 100 years.
