1,000 mile Cycle for The Lovewell Center

Between the 5th & 11th of August, I will be cycling 1,000 miles from Lands End to John O’Groats. (For all the non-Brit’s reading, that is the most south-western point of England to the most north-eastern point of Scotland.)

I will be cycling with my dad, whilst my mum (and the dog, Harvey) will be driving an RV to our appointed campsite each night. We are aiming to cycle an average of 140 miles per day so that the challenge will be completed in 7 days.

As extra encouragement to finish this pretty audacious challenge, I have decided to raise money for The Hub: Las Vegas - the city engagement ministry of my church, Hope Church LV. The Hub does awesome work to help vulnerable people in our city: those experiencing homeless, teen survivors of sex trafficking, and kiddos in foster care to name a few.

The Hub’s Lovewell Center, which helps the homeless community of Las Vegas, is who I particularly hope to raise money for. It is a program that encourages earning and participation as members can earn points by taking rehabilitation classes and can then spend those same points on food, clothes, showers, laundry, haircuts, etc.

The Hub team, and the hundreds of volunteers that help every year, build deep relationships with huge numbers of people and see lives transformed with a little bit of help along the way! Check out this video of one of our Lovewell members: Papa Smurf.

Later this year the Lovewell is opening a larger facility just off the Strip in Las Vegas - which is why I’m trying to help! The new Lovewell building is triple the size of the old one, and therefore there is a huge need for furniture, supplies, and decor. I am hoping to raise $10,000 which should go a long way in helping this new building feel like home for the many people who will walk through its doors.
