1000 sleeping bags for Lebanese refugees

As an Iraqi-Australian currently residing in Iraq, I feel deeply compelled to respond to the escalating humanitarian crisis unfolding in Lebanon. In the face of an increasingly dire conflict between Israel and Lebanon, thousands of innocent civilians are fleeing their homes in the south, seeking refuge from the relentless devastation. With over 3,000 airstrikes reported within just three days of the conflict, entire communities have been uprooted, homes destroyed, and countless lives disrupted.

Our shared humanity calls on us to act swiftly and decisively during times of such overwhelming need. We cannot turn a blind eye to the suffering of those who are forced to leave everything behind. As winter approaches in the Middle East, the immediate need for essential items—blankets, mattresses, and pillows—becomes more pressing. Many families, displaced and vulnerable, are in desperate need of basic necessities, including a warm place to rest.

In response to this, I am launching a campaign to raise funds for the purchase of 1,000 blankets, 1,000 mattresses, and 1,000 pillows to support 1,000 individuals fleeing southern Lebanon. By taking advantage of the current summer prices in the region, we can maximise the impact of your donations and secure these essentials before costs rise as winter sets in. These items will be donated to the Imam Ali Shrine for distribution to those in need, ensuring that these displaced families are provided with a place to rest during their time of hardship.

It is my personal belief that this conflict, regrettably, will persist longer than anticipated. As a citizen of Iraq, I feel a deep sense of duty to extend my hand to our Lebanese brothers and sisters during this difficult time. Our collective action can provide real, tangible relief to those who need it most.
