10,000 Face Shields for Front Line Health Workers!
Donation protected
Our response ignited when Emergency Department physician, Dr. Lily Muldoon, reported stories of her friends on the front line lacking personal protective equipment (PPE) during the COVID-19 crisis and saw inappropriate solutions:
A folder divider held up with scrunchies....A 2-liter bottle cut in two and tucked in a surgical mask... A transparency held by rubber bands....We had to do something!
We prototyped a face shield design and made the first one. Sturdy, comfortable, re-usable, safe. We started making hundreds and then shared the designs open-source. We joined with others to make thousands.
The design got NIH approval.
It was important to keep giving to the places that worked the most closely with patients who would not otherwise have access. Drop-offs to small ambulance bays in the middle of the night. Doulas coming to our garage in the morning for pickups. Sending to senior centers workers at 16 sites across the country. We became connected to more people than we had ever imagined during shelter-in-place, and we knew we shouldn't stop.
We've since joined with health workers to make the other things they need. Commodity chains have broken down and there is a surge in demand for other essentials. Flexible-walled intubation boxes. Replacement PAPR masks. Negative Pressure hoods. We're working on and making them all.
And now we're out of money.
Help us make 10,000 more shields.
We are a volunteer group of health workers, engineers, designers, and humanitarian workers collaborating to fight the negative effects of COVID-19 on society.
Let's join together...
Let's block the transmission of COVID-19.
$5 can make a long-term face shield.
$12 can make a PAPR mask replacement.
$250 can make an intubation box.
