100ks for Running4Resilience
Donation protected
My name is John Veloudos & I host the Sunday Sippers Podcast along side my good friend Butz. On the 9th of November I will be running 100 kilometres around Lake Burley Griffin to raise funds and awareness for an amazing organisation named Running For Resilience.
In 2019, Running For Resilience (R4R) began running each Wednesday night and catching up for a chat afterward, regularly attracting 200 runners to each run. R4R has grown into a community of more than 2,000 Canberrans who believe that community and exercise underpin a mentally healthy landscape, and with this growth, R4R now believes that saving as many lives from suicide as possible is making Canberra Suicide-Free by 2033.
I've been attending R4R for the past three years and have connected with their mission & people. Only this year, they have formally become a charity that will take on donations. This run is to raise awareness about their mission and provide funds in order to expand their capability on the impact they have within the ACT. R4Rs mission provides practical and authentic solution to mental health struggles, focusing on the things we can control and providing a space for people to feel welcomed and supported.
I recommend watching Co-Founder Matthew Breen's TedTalk held in 2023 to learn more about the Running For Resilience story.
(NOTE: This talk talk contains a discussion of suicide).
