101st Cadet Class Females run the Women's Mayo Mini Marathon
Donation protected
The Females from the 101st Cadet Class of the Irish Defence Forces are running the Mayo Women's Mini Marathon on 4th of May to show our support for Aoibhneas and O.N.E. We are trying to raise as much money as possible for these deserving charities. 70% of funds will go to Aoibhneas and 30% will go to O.N.E.
The charities are for the following causes;
1. Aoibhneas is an organisation that provides 24-hour support, information and referral services, access to safe accommodation – for women and children forced to leave their home due to domestic abuse.
Aoibhneas is one of the biggest refuge accommodation providers in Ireland and not only do they provide an outreach and community based service, they also provide a drop in service and court preparation and accompaniment service to help change the lives of women and children residing in the Dublin.
Fundraising income helps to ensure the organisation can effectively provide a multidisciplinary range of practical, emotional and therapeutic supports for the women and children that are in need.
2. The Organisation of National Ex-Service Personnel (O.N.E.) is an Irish veterans association dedicated to supporting former members of the Irish Defence Forces. Established in 1951, O.N.E. provides assistance in areas such as housing, mental health, and social inclusion, ensuring that ex-service personnel receive the care and recognition they deserve.
The primary mission of O.N.E. is to support the well-being of ex-service personnel by providing accommodation, advocacy, and support services. The key objectives of the association include:
- Providing safe and secure accommodation for homeless and vulnerable veterans.
- Advocating for the rights and welfare of ex-service personnel. Offering social and mental health support.
- Promoting remembrance and recognition of Irish Defence Forces veterans.
Examples of the services O.N.E. operate to assist ex-serving personnel include
the Veteran Support Centres as well as Homes for Homeless Veterans (Dublin, Letterkenny, Cobh).
The association also provides mental health support, recognising the challenges that many veterans face after leaving active service. Regular events and meetings foster camaraderie among veterans and help them reintegrate into civilian life.
All donations are for a great cause and are greatly appreciated.
