We are interns for 10Power and for the past few months we have been working on Energy 24, a new program which works with local Haitians to bring electricity to the unsupported residential sector in Haiti. We were awarded a small grant to cover our travel costs in order to launch two residential (Energy 24) solar projects in villages, but need to raise some more money to cover our whole project's expenses. We have the amazing opportunity to improve the lives of others and see our research and work come to fruitation, but we need your donation to support our team in Haiti!
If you’re reading this from the comfort of your home or office, you understand the ease of having access to reliable energy. Energy is the backbone that supports advancement in quality of life, yet close to one-fifth of humans on the planet, 1.3 billion people, lack access to electricity. Without consistent power, it is impossible to provide running water, refrigeration for food or vaccines, or access to global markets. 10Power provides renewable energy to communities that lack access to electricity. 10Power’s solution to the energy access problem is to create regenerative growth that reduces global carbon emissions, and economically empowers stakeholders.
In Haiti, 66% of people do not have access to electricity, one of the lowest electrification rates in the world. 10Power is partnering with DigitalKap , a Haitian owned all-in-one solar provider, to bring clean, affordable electricity to the energy-starved Haitian communes of Anse-a-Veau and Morency (outside of Les Cayes). Approximately 30,000 lives will be positively impacted within these villages by this project. These towns are also central hubs in a network of villages in the South of Haiti, connecting communities.

10Power works internationally with underserved communities to build capacity for renewable energy, clean water, gender empowerment, and ecosystem restoration. The 10Power team is traveling to Haiti to bring clean energy to people who don't have access to electricity. While we are there, we will also be reaching out to the women, men, and children of the communities to provide education on renewable energy solutions. We are here to not only implement technology and improve lives, but also to support the renewable energy movement through education. Our approach empowers the local people and secures energy sustainability. Through GoFundMe, we hope that you will help us reach out to more communities in Haiti and provide energy to more people!
We greatly appreciate your donation and support of our project. Sante!
Thank you from the whole 10Power team.

10Power is a mission-driven company that promotes energy access and sustainable growth in the developing countries around the world. 10Power provides third party finance for renewable energy projects in emerging economies and empowers communities to promote clean water, gender equality, and ecosystem restoration. 10Power is applying the proven business model of third party finance to provide access to clean energy. This eliminates the single biggest adoption barrier - high upfront cost, thus enabling households and small business owners to have access to energy.
10Power’s business model directly:
• Creates in-country green jobs with attention to gender empowerment,
• Saves businesses money on energy, which increases the local money multiplier,
• Improves air quality by decreasing black particulate matter,
• Reduces carbon emissions from diesel generators,
• Builds capacity for sustainable economic growth.

Partner: Haiti Communitere
Haiti Communitere 's grassroots approach involves an active, experienced, on-the-ground presence with a focus on providing the resources, processes and tools required to empower local people and groups to take an active role in the renewal and strengthening of their own communities. In addition, we are committed to bridging the gap between individuals who are willing to help and organizations that can effect change. Central to that commitment is the notion that communication, information, and strategic partnerships are vital for strengthening local communities in their renewal.
Communitere has been on the ground in Haiti since the 2010 earthquake. We look forward to sharing how Haiti Communitere has supported the recovery efforts and how our renewal efforts continue to make a difference.
Haiti Communitere houses a maker center and internet cafe that serves 7,000 Haitians per year, many from the neighboring slum, Cite Soleil. They have won international awards for their community engagement.
Previous Projects
Members of the team conducted a volunteer service trip to Haiti called "Konbeatz" working with Haiti Communitere in October, 2015. Team members brought tools for a mobile tool lending library, painted a school bus with 50 school children and outfitted it with the tools and then traveled to the slum Cite Soleil to build a bridge over a river of trash. Hundreds of people from the community came out to help. After the bridge was built the people painted “Mesi Haiti Communitere” on the bridge “Thank you Haiti Communitere.”
Working side by side, we can build a better future together.
In October 2015, members of the 10Power team and a group of volunteers did a project at Haiti Communitere with school children from Artiste Resistance, painting a school bus together to bring a tool lending library into the community to help people build their own future.
