“Imagine strings made from metal from the Twin Towers.
Now imagine these strings on a guitar, a violin, and cello.
Now imagine these instruments played by survivors of 9/11.”
The project is to make these special strings for a newly designed acoustic guitar, violin, and cello, and used primarily in 9/11-related ceremonies, and goes as follows:
1) One set of instruments will be made and given to the Fire Department of New York for use by its members and relatives of those who perished.
2) One set will be given to the New York Police Department (including the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey), for use by members of the department and relatives of the NYPD who perished.
3) One set will be made for the families of those who perished in the Towers, as well as those who survived the attacks. If feasible, this set will be on loan or gifted to a museum or other organization, with the stipulation that they be made available for families to play in tribute to lost family members, including those lost in the Pentagon attack and aircraft attacks—this is meant to be inclusive of all those who lost their lives. This set may also be available for use in special 9/11-related events, such as world-class and world-famous musicians doing tributes or benefit performances.
These instruments, with these strings, will become American treasures and be accessible to those impacted by 9/11, so healing and precious moments will happen at their own hands. The scope of the project is huge and the goal is to have everything ready for the September 2017 ceremonies. Please support this project so we all experience it together.
