13 yr-old Deshon Dubose Medical and Memorial Fund

Donation protected

Hello, My name is Melissa and I am creating this fundraising page on behalf of the family of Deshon Dubose. He was the baby child of his mother, Charlett. Deshon just turned 13 in November and was a top-tier student at Drew Charter School in Atlanta. Accolades all over the place. Ask anyone who knows him and they'll tell you how much of a respectful, well-mannered leader Deshon was where ever he went. From his teachers to the parents of his friends, he was well-known and never in a negative light. He spent his afternoons at the YMCA, volunteered in the community, and was never one to shy away from helping anyone in need, whether he knew them or not. Compared to his older sister Maya, he was a gentle giant and a big baby, pretty tall for a 13-year-old boy. He was his Grandfather's right hand and would choose to be with him every weekend over being anywhere else. He literally had the world to conquer ahead of him and there was no doubt in anyone's mind that he would take it on head first and succeed in anything that he put his mind to. He was that kid, that every parent loves and aims to raise. THIS IS THE DESHON THAT WE WANT THE WORLD TO KNOW AND NEVER FORGET!!

On Saturday, January 21, 2023, Deshon begged to go skating with his friends at Cascade Family Skating, located in Atlanta, Georgia, it was the teen night after all, and as a teen, it was the place to be. Toward the end of the night, he and his friends decided to walk to the nearby gas station. It was here that he was violently gunned down after a fight broke out between another group of people. Deshon and his friends tried to run away from the shots being fired when he was hit twice in the back. That night his mother Charlett, got the banging on the door that no parent ever wants to get, to be informed that her baby had been shot and was in critical condition. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where his mother found out that he was pronounced deceased. As a single parent of the two children, Charlett's baby was murdered after what was supposed to be just a fun night of skating. His murder is still under investigation and we are thankful for the outpouring of love and support from the city of Atlanta and Mayor Dickens.

This fund is being created to help cover the incurred medical bills and burial costs associated with losing a child, especially in this manner. Depending on the actual cost of the memorial service and his medical bills, this fundraiser may be adjusted accordingly. Any additional money raised over the listed amount will be used to support Charlett and Maya as they relearn how to live life without their third wheel, Deshon. As you would expect any mother of a murdered child, Charlett will not be returning to work until she has adjusted and is far enough through the grieving process to do so. We never know how long, as that process is different for everyone.

On behalf of Deshon's family, we thank you all for any contribution that you can make. Every cent matters and is appreciated. Please share this as much as possible, together we can all help to ease the burden of this loss on his family.

THANK YOU!!
