We're making a MOVIE: Pit Bulls and Piranhas

Who We Are

The 1310 Bandits are a visionary female-led team of filmmakers, creating stories that advocate social consciousness and responsibility. 1310 bandits celebrate diversity and inclusion with respect for all of humanity's beautiful individual differences.

Our commitment is to create compelling cinematic stories that highlight the human experience. Our passion is to present a platform on which taboo subjects, the LGBT community, and the world can begin a dialogue. Through film, workshops, and outreach, we ignite understanding, compassion, and social awareness within the global community. We don’t make movies only to entertain but to make a positive impact on the world that will help bring us closer together.

The Story

Our story is set in 1987, featuring a lower-class family and their struggles.

These offbeat characters engage in this coming-of-age trauma drama, underlining domestic abuse, drug addiction, and the limitations of the foster care system. We color the screen through the lens of a young girl’s abhorrent reality as she makes judicious decisions that propel her to direct her own future.

Pit Bulls and Piranhas is a Feature Film Script. This project promotion is specifically for the Proof of Concept. A proof of concept (PoC) film is similar to a short film, except that it is not written as such. Short films have a script and a complete idea within the few minutes that they are meant to run. A PoC film, on the other hand, is a part of a feature film that has been shot and edited.

Directed by Tabatha Mudra of the 1310 Bandits Collective.

The Purpose

Inspired by gritty and raw written truth, what's so special about this film is that we are bold and unafraid to expose the underbelly of the cyclical and systemic issues surrounding our marginalized communities within our society.

As trauma survivors, we were frustrated with most mainstream movies as they typically portray familial conflicts as glamorized and unrelatable. We feel we are well-positioned to authentically speak our truths in contrast to movies that feel like they were written by individuals with no relatable experience to the stories they are telling. Finally, a story that allows those with similar histories to feel seen.

The Project
Our story begins, at a Mobile home park in Middle America.

Placing high importance on recreating the period of the 1980’s as genuinely as possible.

What We ‘Still’ Need:

1970’s Mobile Home Trailer
Trained Pit Bull with Handler (clipped ears/docked tail rescue dog)
Access to filming Piranha’s in a Tank outside of Florida. (Piranhas are illegal in the state of Florida.)

The Ask

We are proudly fundraising for dollar to dollar matches. What do we need? One dollar, per one person. So 10,000 one-dollar donations give us 10,000 people who support this mission!

Help us reach 10,000 one-dollar donations in order to receive a matched $10,000!

After you donate - please share!

If you’re inspired to give more, please be our guest!

Please contact the director Tabatha if you would like a 501(c)3 taxable write off.

COVID-19 Update
We completed casting for the ‘proof of concept’ in late February. Just two weeks later, an international pandemic ‘paused’ our energy towards production. We are keen on the guidelines and will excitedly resume as soon as safely possible. The health of our cast and crew is the utmost of importance, as is all of humanity.

BE A PART OF THE MAGIC!

Open your hearts, minds, and wallets or donate your time, talent, products, and services or just share our mission with friends and family to support our creative endeavors.

We need YOU to join the 1310 Bandits and help us turn our vision into a reality!

With your financial support comes many fun rewards that will help bring you into the filmmaking process. We’re also keeping everyone up-to-date on the movie's progress through our social media! @1310Bandits

One way you can help bring “Pit bulls and Piranhas” to the big screen is to DONATE. Any amount can make a HUGE difference. $5 could buy a days worth of Toilet Paper. $15 feeds a crew member lunch. $150 helps us pay our actors and crew. $1,000,000.00 could get us really going! :)

Another way to ‘Team this Dream’ is by SHARING this page with those whom you know would support our mission.

Thank you for taking an interest in “Pit bulls and Piranhas”. We hope you will support, and help us create a film that tells the raw stories rarely told.
