13.1 for Tom

Donation protected
Our dad, Tom Stamos, enjoyed running more than the average human. In his gentle way, he convinced us to become runners, too. He cheered us on, gave us tips, suggested routes, and celebrated every mile we added to the shoes he helped us research.

In December of 2018 we lost our dad, our best friend, to a rare form of cancer. His strength throughout his fight was familiar, though no less awe-inspiring. We’d seen that same tenacity before- as he strapped on his Yak Tracks to run in the snow, or as he completed the Chicago Marathon on a record breaking 85 degree October day. He was resilience personified. He was a runner.

In his absence, running feels more personal and powerful than ever before. Gayle and I need only take the first few strides of a jog to feel connected to our incredible Dadio. With that in mind, we have decided to train for the Chicago Half Marathon. We will be documenting our training on this instagram account (@13.1_for.tom) Additionally, we will be raising money for Brave Like Gabe, an organization founded by Gabriele Grunewald, a professional runner who recently lost her fight to a rare form of cancer. This org raises money and awareness for rare cancer research, a cause that will forevermore be connected to our hearts.

Please consider donating to help us reach our goal of raising $1,000 for Brave Like Gabe.
