14 year old in coma!

Donation protected
Update: unfortunately Subhan was pronounced dead. Please keep the family in your prayers and consider donating to support with funeral costs or other expenses.

This is the update from family ! We need to find answers for Subhan.

To whomever it may concern,

I am writing this letter in an effort to gain the attention of the public in the hopes that anyone who has any information can reach out and help us get answers to what happened to our son.

On August 16th between 4:00 and 5:30 pm, at the Oshawa Mall parking lot - second entrance close to the Tim Horton’s in a blue Honda Odyssey, my 14 year old son strangled to death. We found him with the seatbelt around his neck. We have no idea what happened and are in shock - desperate for answers.

Our son hated shopping, like most boys his age, and chose to wait in the car while we completed our errands with our younger children.

His name was Subhan Mareer. He was a student at Jack Miner PS and supposed to start high school in the fall at Donald A. Wilson. He was very excited for this transition and talked about it often. He was a very future oriented person, he had plans for that weekend, the week after, and the new school year. He was a bright and happy child according to everyone who knew him - friends, family, strangers.

If anyone was in that location, parked beside the car, walking past it in the lot - please reach out and share anything you might know, no matter how trivial it may seem. In particular, there was a Tesla parked right in front of our car that may have had a clear view of the inside of the van. If anyone saw anything, please let us know.

Sincerely,

Syed Mareer

Hello everyone,
My name is Nabila and I'm fundraising on behalf of my best friend during the most difficult time. On August 16th at around 5:30 p.m. in Oshawa, my friend's world was turned upside down. While shopping for her son's birthday party at the mall, she and her husband left their 14-year-old son, Subhan, in the car to practice his lines for an upcoming play at the Whitby Library. Despite their insistence, he chose to stay behind.

Tragically, when his father returned to the car with their other children, he found Subhan in a critical state, as result of seatbelt strangulation around his neck and his body showing signs of oxygen deprivation. The father called for help, and thankfully, a passerby was able to cut the seatbelt. Emergency services were contacted, and they rushed Subhan to Oshawa hospital before being transferred to Sick Kids, where he remains in a coma and is in critical condition.

Subhan is a remarkable, young man who si kind, intelligent, and dedicated. He was supposed to complete memorizing the Quran soon and was known for his gentle nature and IT skills. My own children are heartbroken, having just played with him before our recent trip to Central Island and was planning our next trip to Wet and Wild.

This GoFundMe is set up to support Subhan's family as they navigate this crisis. Both parents work hard to provide for their family, and right now, they’re taking time off to be with him and there’s financial strain. Your support will alleviate some of these burdens and allow them to focus on being with their son.

Please keep Subhan and his family in your prayers. Your generosity will make a tremendous difference during this challenging time. Thank you for your kindness.
