1500km Cycle Through Europe for Charity

Donation protected
Hello!

Sam and Sean here, 23 from Ashford, Kent.
We have decided to undertake an ancient pilgrimage called the Camino de Santiago, taking us through France, Spain and Portugal, totalling a massive 1,500km by bike. The journey will take around 40 days through all terrains, weather, and the wildest of camping spots. During this time, we aim to raise as much money as possible for our chosen charities and bring you guys along for the adventure!

Sean’s charity - Animal Rescue Algarve (ARA)

Around 50,000 dogs and cats are abandoned on the streets of Portugal each year. The “lucky ones” get rescued by shelters such as my chosen charity Animal Rescue Algarve (ARA). However, many are left to die on the streets of an under-resourced country that cannot cope with their animal situation.

I volunteered at ARA in 2021 , a privately run shelter often running at maximum capacity with about 10 employees. I came back with my newly rescued four-legged friend Nelson (who will be joining us on the trip), however, 100+ animals still remain at ARA. 50% of all donations will help this privately funded shelter so they can continue to rescue, rehome, and rehabilitate the abandoned animals of Portugal.

Sam's Charity - Dementia UK

Dementia is the loss of cognitive functioning - thinking, remembering and reasoning - Severe enough to interfere with everyday life. Each year, over 11,000 people develop dementia (1 in 14 over 65), and unfortunately, anybody at any age can get dementia, particularly later in life and most commonly due to Alzheimer's disease.

I have experienced first-hand the impacts of dementia and the sadness and difficulties it brings to a family, with my grandma suffering severely in the later course of her life requiring round the clock support from our family and 24/7 carers. 50% of all donations will go towards Dementia UK - a national charity that aims to improve the quality of life for people with dementia, offering advice and support to families who are living with dementia through its Admiral Nurses, who are registered nurses and dementia experts.

We sincerely thank everybody for any donation they can make, no matter how small, and we look forward to taking you all on this journey with us!

Thanks

Sam and Sean
