16U Traveling Basketball Team

My name is Justice Brown and I run a local 16u traveling basketball team here in Lincoln, NE. We are a part of the “Thunder Athletics” 501 C Non-Profit. The majority of all of our kids that play on this team are all inner city kids and most don’t have the funds to play traveling basketball because it gets ver expensive. Last year I spent roughly $5,000 out of pocket which I really didn’t have but at the time was the only option to give these kids an opportunity to play the game they love. I do this for the love of basketball but most importantly for the love of the Lincoln community I grew up in. For most of these kids basketball is a way for them to escape the real worlds they live in, for a lot of them it’s a way to keep them from ending up in trouble and making bad decisions. I Find basketball the perfect way to help these young men become greater human beings in life, this game teaches so many life lessons that will stick with them forever. This summer we are trying to raise $7,000 that will cover Travel expenses, hotel fees, food, practice fees and tournament fees. No Coaches get paid in this organization. It is all volunteering. We are a very competitive team and will compete all around the Midwest including Omaha, Iowa, Kansas city, and will also compete in Atlanta and Las Vegas this spring and summer.
