Help Kelli and Family Through Alexia's Tragedy

Donation protected
My name is Brittany Trudeau (Medeiros), and I am starting this GO FUND ME for my best friend, Kelli, on behalf of her beautiful 18-year-old daughter, Alexia (Lexi) Nixon was involved in a car accident on December 1st. She was a passenger in a vehicle that a drunk driver hit head-on. Lexi has been in critical condition and fighting for her life, and overnight, we received the heartbreaking news that Lexi did not survive her injuries. We are devasted that Lexi has innocently lost her life so young. She leaves behind her two young sisters who adore her and many beloved family and friends.
Please consider donating to this fund to directly pay for Lexi’s services (funeral, cremation, headstone, etc). If you can help even the smallest amount, it will make a difference. Kelli and her family appreciate everyone’s support. Kelli was diagnosed with CHF 3 years ago and has been unable to work, which is already a financial burden on her.

Let me share Lexi’s story.

On December 1st, at around 2 am, Lexi’s mom received a knock on the door -one that every parent dreads. An officer informed her that Lexi was Med Flighted to a Boston hospital and to get there quickly as she was in critical condition. When the family arrived at the hospital, they were taken to a private waiting room. A Neurosurgeon and a resident doctor came to let them know that Lexi had a significant traumatic brain injury as well as two broken arms, broken ribs, a cervical fracture, a broken leg, a fractured pelvis, and several other internal injuries. The surgeon explained that, at this point, the traumatic brain injury was the priority. Lexi had a massive brain bleed and multiple contusions. The left side of Lexi’s cranium needed to be removed to help relieve the pressure and stop the bleeding. He said this was going to keep her alive at the moment and a high risk she would not make it through the 3-hour surgery. But he did say she had her young age on her side. There was still hope.
The three of them were then taken to the SICU waiting room to wait until the Neurosurgeon returned with news. While waiting to hear from the surgeon, the news came on TV about the accident. It was a head-on collision in Braintree on Union Street. They mentioned 2 non-life threating and 1 life threating. At about 6:30 am the Neurosurgeon came to the area to inform them that Lexi made it through the surgery, but her brain was extremely swollen and damaged. Many questions were asked to the surgeon by Kelli, and his response to her was that it was too soon, and her head injury was very traumatic and damaged that it would be hour by hour, day by day.
The police report stated how the other vehicle crossed the median and hit them head-on. Lexi was the passenger in the front seat. The car was so demolished they could not find Lexi, but her friends kept saying someone else was in the car. When they approached the car, they were unable to use the jaws of life due to the condition of the vehicle. All the airbags had deployed which covered Lexi. The only way they saw her was a small part of her jacket. She was found with her head down, limp, unresponsive, with a slight pulse. Two officers, with the help of EMT’s had to lift her out safely, not knowing her injuries. She was then med-flighted.
In the last 7 days, Kelli, her entire family, and friends have been praying for a miracle. They all continued to have HOPE. On December 10th, Kelli received a call from the Neurosurgeon and was told that the CT scan done the day before showed significant swelling on the right side of her brain, and she had strokes. She was given the option of having the right-side bone removed due to the swelling but was told that it was only going to keep Lexi alive at the moment with significant neurological deficits. Lexi’s brain was already severely damaged, and the family needed to surround her for the end of life within 24 hours. Lexi took her last breath on December 10, 2024.
