How we move forward.
We cannot move forward without your help. Here’s how we can together.
On March 18th, in response to Covid-19, South Carolina closed all restaurants to in-house dining. While this was a necessary step, it was at the cost of many. Since then, your generous support of curbside pickup has meant the world to the Bistro. We tip our hats to you. Curbside dinner service will continue on a day to day basis, Wednesday, March 25th.
Customers, friends and family, your energy and positivity has given us hope, despite much uncertainty. However, there are hard decisions to be made. Together, we must be realistic about the unknown timeline at hand and honest about its challenges. Serving you in such a limited capacity will not support our staff at present or guarantee a successful business in the future.
Let’s put this in perspective, the restaurant industry is a big one. For scale, it is four times the airline industry in sales, and eighteen times larger in provided jobs. Restaurants are a foundational sector of our economy and society. Those foundations will take big solutions and time to repair.
Happily, our ten tables are small, as is the town square we love. As made tangible daily around the square of Pendleton, independent businesses make our cities and towns a home. It is our job to set the table. We have an obligation to do so safely and sustainably.
It is our commitment to be back at the table, together, when things are right.
In our best effort to do this, we have setup a fund. First, to provide our staff with essential financial support over the next few months. Second, to ensure that we are here for you in the future. It is with a respectful and grateful heart that we ask for your continued support.
Justin and I want you to know that whatever you can do is enough. Whatever you need to do for the safety & health of your family and community is enough. Most importantly, staying home is especially enough. We are grateful for it.
We’ll be waiting, ready to fill our pots, sharpen our knives, and welcome some sunshine on the patio with you all very soon. Stay safe and continue to follow us for updates.
With gratitude,
Justin, Andrew and 1826 Bistro Team
