190km Covid-19 Run Challenge
Donation protected
Thank you all very much for your support to our GoFundMe page. We have raised almost €35,000 between the GoFundMe page and donations. We have plans in place now as to how the money will be used to help our local hospitals. Here is a summary of our plans.
Nazareth House Nursing Home, Fahan, Co. Donegal:
We have began constructing an outdoor patio area for residents and are paying for a thermal scanner for the hospital. The approximate spend here will be in the region of €9,000. The work is being carried out by Trevor Watson from Beaver Log Cabins, Bridgend, Co. Donegal
Buncrana Nursing Unit:
We plan to begin construction of an outdoor garden area in the coming weeks, after the completion of the work in the Nazereth House (approximately in 2 weeks’ time). These works are being completed in conjunction with the HSE’s Tony Kitterick and McMeniman Builders who are approved by the HSE. The approximate spend on this project is €11,000.
Pieta House Ireland:
We will donate €5,000 to the Pieta House, Ireland.
Letterkenny General Hospital:
We will be donating the balance (approximately €10,000) to The Friends Of Letterkenny General Hospital which is a registered charity (thefriends.ie).
We would like to thank you all once more and we will keep you posted on our Facebook page when the projects are complete.
Thanks you again,
Gerard Doherty, Shane Doherty, Declan Irwin and Christian McGinley
Notes:
For the purpose of GoFundMe authentication the funds will be drawn down into the bank account of Claire Irwin, wife of Declan Irwin, who assisted in the organisation of the online advertising and fundraising of the event. Claire will be personally withdrawing the funds and the money in order for the funds to be released from the GoFundMe account and then passed onto the team to carryout the works mentioned above.
