1942 Farmall H Restoration for Suicide Awareness
Donation protected
Hello all!
I have been involved in the Antique Tractor hobby for nearly my entire life. In September of 2017, my family was impacted greatly by my mother's death. My mother, JoAnne, struggled with alcoholism and severe depression for many years, and could not take the pain any longer. After fighting a long battle, she decided to take her own life.
Since my mother was an avid supporter of my tractor hobby as a young man, I thought that a tractor restoration project would be a good way to honor her. In this, I intend on doing three things:
1) I think this project will be a great and unique way to bring awareness to those struggling with or impacted by mental health and depression. I plan on doing this by using the tractor to travel to local shows and parades, and educating others about the options that are out there for both victims and their families.
2) I would chronicle the entire rebuild process on my YouTube channel (which largely focuses on repairing, restoring, and just using antique tractors in general). This would also give a chance for others, young and old, to see what is involved in a lot of the repairing of these old tractors, and just how much fun it can be. In essence, a way to preserve a piece of history while supporting a good cause.
3) The leftover funds from the project will be donated to the charitable cause (SAVE - Suicide Awareness Voices of Education), at the time that the restoration is completed. These funds will benefit helping others around the world in their struggles with a variety of mental illnesses.
4) The tractor will be used to travel to local antique farm shows, parades, and farming demonstrations. It will travel with a 'donors board' listing all donors to the cause, along with a detailed explanation of the project. Last, it will have a variety of insignia and memorabilia to accompany the tractor specifically related to suicide awareness and prevention.
I thank you for your consideration, and thank you for stopping by to check out the campaign! Completing a project like this would mean the world to me by honoring the victims, and to victims families and friends who have been affected by a pain that roots deeply.
Please, if you cannot donate - do share this on your social media pages. Thank you!
