Nevaeh’s Brain Injury Battle

I have started this campaign for my friend April & her precious daughter Nevaeh. Last Thursday Nevaeh was involved in a school yard accident that caused Nevaeh to fall backwards and hit her head on the blacktop. The fall fractured her skull and resulted in hemorrhaging in both the front and back of her brain. The hemorrhaging continued to progress so she was taken into surgery early Friday morning. The surgery went well but Nevaeh is still in ICU being sedated and monitored closely to make sure all of her organs are functioning properly. Unfortunately this little fighter and her mother April are not strangers to the ICU. In November of 2013 just shy of her 5th Birthday Nevaeh suffered a seizure and was rushed to the hospital where her mother was informed that both of Nevaeh’s kidneys were failing and her body was shutting down. She was life flighted from Reno to Stanford where she was put on dialysis and ventilation for 6 weeks before being released. April then had to relocate herself as well as her other two children, Nevaeh’s twin sister Audrey and their little brother Patrick. The family lived at the Ronald McDonald House Charities for a year while Nevaeh received dialysis and waited patiently for a kidney transplant. In 2014 Nevaeh underwent transplant surgery to replace her right kidney. April and her kids continue to live at the RMHC for another 6 months while Nevaeh was healing before relocating again to Las Vegas this time to be closer to specialists that Nevaeh would need to see for follow ups. As you can see both April and Nevaeh are warriors but even warriors can use the support and help of others! Nevaeh has not been awake to realize everything that has happened and that all of her hair has been shaved off. Although her hair will grow back, this temporary loss can be devastating to a little girl, especially a twin!
