Cochlear Hearing Device For Rossana

Hello, My name is Alejandro and I’m creating this campaign for my fiancé Rossana. I am posting her story as she wrote it. My hearing problems began at the early age of 3. Due to some medications, I lost my hearing on both ears. At first, my parents thought I was being disobedient, and did not notice my condition until a few months later. Throughout the years I had regular hearing aids that were basically useless. By age 13, i lost my hearing on both ears completely. I went through a lot in junior high and high school. Back in 2007, I met the requirements for the Cochlear surgery that changed my life. Since then, I have had the same Cochlear hearing aid (the ancient Nucleus Freedom) and its parts are obsolete. The entire device should be one color. As you can see, the device in the picture has two colors because I cannot choose a color of my liking on refurbished parts. The device has been malfunctioning the last year an a half with refurbished parts miraculously found. Lately, the device turns on and off several times a day. Every time I send the device to get it fixed (with the hope that there’s a part available) I spend a good 2 to 3 weeks without hearing at all. This causes me frustration and anxiety. Thankfully I met the men of my dreams and he has been incredibly supportive with my condition. We are getting married in October and we have many expenses with the wedding, honeymoon and apartment move in. My fiancé’s insurance does not cover the new device and it’s very expensive. Since there’s no more parts available for my device, I need to upgrade forcefully to the new one. I’d really like to have the new device before my wedding and honeymoon.
