"All Aboard For Conor"

Donation protected
On March 1 last, our friends Trevor and Jane Parr were given the worst news possible when their 4 year old son, Conor was diagnosed with leukemia and now they are faced with the hardest journey they’ll ever have to face and Conor is fighting one of the hardest battles of his life. No adult should should have to go through this, never mind a child.

Here is their story -

Conor is a typical 4 year old boy..  Fun loving, mischievous, caring, affectionate and Thomas the Tank Engine mad!! A little boy who loves nothing more than playing with his big sister Emma and little brother Harry.  Mid February, we noticed he was losing weight, was bruising easily and was very pale.  After a visit to the GP, Conor was referred to the Paediatrics Ward in St Luke's Hospital for tests and was transferred to Our Lady’s Children Hospital in Crumlin by ambulance the next day.  We had to take the long walk down the corridors to St John’s Oncology Ward like so many families have before us and many will after us and there our worst fears were confirmed.  He is now faced with a 3 year programme including chemotherapy for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).

So far, he has had a Hickman Line inserted, is on steroids, has had a number of lumber punctures, has lost his hair and is currently up to Crumlin 5 days a week for chemo.  Because his immune system is so low, he has caught a number of infections and has already spent over a week in St Luke’s and over 4 weeks in Crumlin.  The Doctors and Nurses in both hospitals are incredible and make his hospital visits as fun an experience as they can and their level of care is second to none.

Conor continues to amaze us every day with his positivity and at how well he’s coping though this unexpected journey in his life. He is the strongest, bravest little boy we know and with all he's going through, he still has a constant smile of his face  and with his strength, bravery, determination and alot of support, he'll come out the other side and beat this horrible disease.

Thank you to everyone so far for your love, support and prayers.. It’s beyond anything we could have imagined. Love Trevor & Jane.

Aswell as everything else, this can cause financial worries for any family going through this, therefore, we, their friends, have set up this Facebook and Go Fund Me page to help ease the pressure on them.  A cycle from Clogh to Kinsale is planned for August and a Tractor Run “Convoy for Conor” is being organised for September so keep an eye on updates for these events. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and if you can’t donate, please just keep him in your prayers. Thank you for taking the time to read Conor’s story.
