Study Abroad in Vienna, Austria May '13
Donation protected
Thanks for taking a look at my Crowdfunding page. This is the first time that I have asked for help on such a large scale and from so many people. However it is my hope that with your help, I can reach my goal and spend 6 weeks studying next year in Vienna, Austria.
I am creating this page mostly for relatives and close friends who would like to support me and my goals. I also want to make an appeal to many of you who I might not see on a regular basis but none the less, I have supported in your endeavors in the past. This includes all of my friends whom I have gone to your plays, music and ballet concerts, art exhibits, and literary readings. I hope for support from all of the friends that I have let stay on my couch while they were on the road, or even sent other bands that I never met before but still opened my house to them.
I really and truly did these things because I wanted to support you or your friends in achieving your goals. I gave my support unconditionally at the time, but now I am asking you to return the favor and help me achieve a goal of mine. Even if you can only give five bucks or less, I will appreciate every donation.
Why am I going to study over there when I am an American Studies Major? Well, that's a pretty good question. My answer is that I have never been outside of American culture and looked at it from the outside view. I think that this is a valuable thing for anyone to do regardless of what country you are from. I met a Professor this first year at UT whom I have grown fond of and would like to continue working with him, possibly as a mentor. He is the leader of this study abroad and I would love the experience of learning from him in a country that he loves.
Some of the things that I will be doing there include: learning the German language, touring Museums dedicated to Mozart and Freud, touring a concentration camp, floating the Danube, attending an Opera and play, while learning about the culture of the city and how it has changed through the centuries. For a better understanding of what I might be doing, check out the video of the students that went a couple of years ago.
Thanks for even taking the time to look at my page, and if you have any questions, please email, call or talk to me. I am happy to discuss anything about this trip or otherwise.
