Help Deborah Downs-Miers Come Home!
Donation protected
Welcome to our GoFundMe page on our CaringBridge website for Dr. Deborah Downs-Miers. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place as Deborah recovers from a spinal cord injury and surgery which occurred on June 17, 2019, and has left her paralyzed from the chest down. Currently, she is in a care facility and we hope this will help her recover sensation and motion in her body, as she has made some progress in the last 2+ years.
We have set up this page to help pay for Deborah's medical bills (past, present, and future) and long-term care costs (including medical and accessibility equipment and her transportation), and also to take care of some of her other expenses, specifically taxes, different types of insurance, legal and advising fees, and house payments, which have become more difficult for us due to her injury and medical bills. The funds will also be used for emergency expenses, should they arise, as well as moneys paid to ensure her daughter's and other POAs' access to Deborah and her care facility. While perhaps not a completely exhaustive list of how these donations are used, we hope it is detailed enough for donors to understand and feel comfortable with.
Deborah's priority is to return to full health yet also be able to enable her daughter to finish graduate school so she can be in a position to have a good, stable job. We appreciate any support you can give and are so grateful for your words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
