Jax’s Road To Recovery
Donation protected
This campaign is to help out the family of Jax Shannon, age 9, who had a accident on July 1st. While getting ready to have a bonfire, he accidentally lit his shirt on fire. The shirt ignited and he tried to put the fire out by rolling on the ground. Due to the material of the shirt being polyester the fire spread quickly. Jax is a smart and resourceful little guy and was able to think and run over to a hose and extinguish himself (pretty amazing). He was rushed to hospital and flew to bc children’s hospital in Vancouver. He is receiving the medical care he needs for the 8-12% of his body that was severely burned causing second and third degree damage as well as tissue damage (nerve and muscle involvement) of his back, torso, armpit and arm. He is undergoing skin grafting surgeries and will be immobile for some time and will have a long road to recovery including physiotherapy, specific medical equipment, and counseling. But the biggest financial burden facing this amazing family is the fact that Vancouver is far away and there is many costs associated with them relocating temporarily, travelling back and forth and taking time off work. Length of stay undetermined at this point. Any amount will help this family be able to be together during this difficult time, to support Jax.
