Billie got into grad school. For those of you who don’t know Billie, she is a former foster youth. After aging out of foster care, she was homeless, until she was finally placed in a shelter, when she was pregnant with her first daughter, after about 2 years of being homeless. When she got into the shelter, she was able to finish high school. With one baby and another on the way, she finished valedictorian, and made the local newspaper. After that, she beat homelessness, was granted foster custody of her 3 youngest brothers, and she started going to college. She excelled, made Dean’s list her first semester, received a presidential scholarship, was fully funded to do research in Kenya, elected president of the honors society, won that super big paleontology honor, and even gave the commencement speech at the university of Laverne graduation 2019 . That’s just to name a few things, the list goes on. She is the head of her family, she makes the money that pays the rent, bills, groceries, etc. We recently learned that her student loans for the next couple semesters wouldn’t cover her school expenses. Well, thanks to the help of a couple very close people, she was able to fix that, at least to the point where she could get it paid for this semester. This leaves her in the negative every month but she somehow makes due. This morning, the family car was involved in a very serious accident. Everyone is fine, physically, but now she has no transportation to or from work/school, and an even bigger financial burden. She has insurance, but only liability, since she couldn’t afford better coverage, so there’s nothing she can really do. This unfortunately leaves her options very limited 1.Quit school, and possibly her job since public transportation wouldn’t be possible and an Uber would cost more than she makes Or 2. Ask for help, so that this, too, shall pass, and she can continue doing great things. Obviously we’re here at 2. Here is a list of the expenses that we are asking for help with; -Renting a car until the car is fixed -Fixing the car if it’s fixable -Buying a cheap replacement if it’s not -Paying for the classes that her loans won’t cover She would never ask for help on her own, so I’m doing it for her. I know we all have our own problems, and we all know people in need, but I beg of you, please help. Please donate if you can, and share this post. Thank you so much. There aren’t many things in life as important as helping someone.
