We are starting this GoFundMe in honor of our dear friend and co-worker Clarence Stroud, his wonderful wife, Diane, and their son, Eli. On June 11th Clarence suffered a stroke that left him with almost no mobility of his left arm and leg. He was in the ICU hospitalized at Watuaga Hospital for five days and was then transferred to the Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory to undergo the beginning stages of physical therapy.
During his time at Frye Medical Center he began the early stages of physical therapy to get his brain to begin sending signals to his left arm and leg through new pathways. He left Frye to come home on July 9th. He then rested during a one week lag as his physical therapy schedule in Boone was established. He underwent his first physical therapy session in Boone on Tuesday, July 16th and will be having physical therapy 2-3 times per week. His speech and mental faculties have received high marks in therapy sessions. His left arm and leg are slowly responding as he continues to work on recovery of mobility of those limbs.
