Heart Surgery ~ Veteran ~ Single Mom

I’m reaching out to the community for financial assistance on behalf of my sister Brittaney. Brittaney is a single mother of two beautiful children (aged 3 & 5), she is an army veteran , and a talented pastry chef. Brittaney has to undergo open heart surgery at the end of July to repair or replace her mitral valve. She is only 30 years old and has several heart defects. Last month she had a minor procedure where her doctor discovered the urgent need for major surgery. That procedure required time away from work and she only had enough accrued PTO to cover a portion of her time off. This upcoming surgery was scheduled just a couple weeks ago so she has had no time to earn more PTO or save any money. The resulting time away from work leaves her panic stricken about paying rent, paying for utilities and other necessary expenses. She has no PTO available to use. She has no savings. Once her open heart surgery has taken place, she can then apply for short term disability from the VA to cover ongoing expenses for the next few months that she is expected to be in recovery. The most critical need at this time is to cover rent by August 1st, or by the 3rd at the absolute latest, as that is when the landlord will refer her file to their attorney for eviction proceedings. She has reached out to the landlord to request an extension and they refused, saying that legally their hands are tied due to California law. Brittaney is a very hard worker and dedicated mother, she has exhausted all options to earn or locate the funds on her own. Receiving an eviction while recovering from major surgery is the absolute last thing she needs right now . If you can spare anything at all, it would help tremendously and be greatly appreciated.
