Friends & Family:

Please read this update on Maeve’s GoFundMe page...sadly, the situation has changed dramatically.

We greatly appreciate everyone’s generosity and support during the hopeful weeks  post-transplant.  Your support helped Sarah and Mike and family manage the hospital stay, travel and food expenses, medical bills, housing, etc.

There is now more need.

After only four, short months since our dear Maeve received her double lung transplant, she has developed a very rare pneumonia and is in critical condition at BCH.
She was admitted on 12/10/19.

Due to the severity of her acute respiratory failure, Maeve is now fighting harder for her life than she ever has before.    Sadly, her new lungs have failed and she is in desperate need of another lung transplant.

Maeve was officially listed on the transplant list on 1/13/20 and will be in the ICU awaiting her call.  We can only hope.

Mike and Sarah have been by Maeve’s bedside day and night, taking turns to be with her since she was admitted in early December.  It could be many more days, weeks, and possibly months, of critical care for Maeve.  Sarah and Mike need to be with Maeve as much as possible.
This turn of events is nothing that they ever could have expected.  It has been truly devastating & heartbreaking to the entire family.

Mike has officially taken a leave of absence from his work.  Subsequently, the Leonard family is no longer eligible for any benefits through Mike’s employer, as they were expended  back in August and September for Maeve’s first transplant.
The family will not have an income for as long as Mike remains with Maeve and away from his occupation.  The financial burden on them will be significant for the duration of Maeve’s hospitalization.   Above and beyond regular monthly household bills & mortgage,  their family health insurance will no longer be covered.   They will also continue to have the added expenses of daily living in Boston: food,  parking, & possible family accommodations.   All of this financial burden is difficult at any time, but for Mike & Sarah at Maeve’s bedside, it has added a level of stress beyond measure.

This is where we are reaching out again to the dear friends and family of Maeve and the Leonards.   So many of you have donated...and for that, they are grateful.

Please consider donating again.   This is a critical time for Maeve and her family.

The Leonard Family is beyond grateful for everyone's support.
Thank you, thank you...
