EX-ARMY AMPUTEE HOMES 3 LEGGED POINTER

Donation protected
My name is Popsey. I am a 4 1/2 year old female English Pointer currently living in Turkey. I was found in February 2016 in a terrible state with horrendous injuries to my left foot and lower leg. I was in so much pain and had been left like this suffering for weeks. A kind lady spotted me and immediately knew she had to help, so she picked me up and took me home. We visited a place called 'the vets' where it was clear that my foot and leg were beyond help and nothing could be done to save them, my foot was completely flat and my leg was rotten. The vets did all they could to help me and had to amputate my complete leg. After spending a few weeks convalescing with my foster mummy and adjusting to life with only 3 legs, numerous pleas were made to find me a home but all were unsuccessful. I was taken to a shelter in Kas where my foster mummy worked as she was unable to keep me herself and I had been there ever since! In August 2019, in an attempt to finally find me the loving home I so deserve, a post was sent across the world of Facebook where it was seen by another kind lady who knew she had to help! Little did I know that this was to be my lucky day! The lady contacted The Pointer Rescue Service in the UK to ask if there was any way they could help...

The day that contact with The Pointer Rescue Service was made, two of their volunteers were at Salisbury hospital as one of them was a patient there for a few days. Whilst spending sometime in the sunshine outside the hospital that day they bumped in to a man called John and they all spent a couple of hours chatting. When John heard about me, he fell in love and instantly wanted to know more! John could completely understand and sympathise with my situation as he is also an amputee...

John joined the army at 16 and served 18 years in the Infantry as a Sergeant undertaking numerous operational tours around the world. After leaving the army he worked as a personal trainer for a few years, and then became a labourer. Summer of 2016, just 3 days into John's labourer job his life changed forever. Whilst renovating a 4th floor Penthouse suite he stepped out on to the external fire escape to carry out some work, where he then found himself in a heap on the floor 4 floors down, the fire escape had collapsed. He suffered minimal visible injuries and several severe breaks in his lower left leg and foot which required surgery to fuse the bones back together with metal and pins. Sadly, the operation was unsuccessful and the bones wouldn't fuse back together and the pins snapped. He was faced with a difficult decision. He would either need to have his entire leg fitted with metal to try and save it but there was no guarantee that it would work due to the failure of his previous operation, or he could opt to have his lower leg amputated. In September 2016 it was decided that his only option was to have his leg amputated from below the knee and he underwent surgery. He has now had two major operations, and has also just undergone further surgery as he needed a new prosthetic lower limb due to damage after a fall...It has taken a long time for John to adjust, and like me he hasn't had a lot to smile about lately. When John heard my story he instantly knew we were perfect for each other as we could understand each other's troubles, and yes, he has offered me my forever home!!!!! When he knew that arrangements were being made to get me out of the shelter and into private foster he said, ''The smile on my face is bigger than the scar on my stump!!''. I am now in private foster care and have started all the necessary procedures and vaccinations to allow me to travel to the UK, and I will be arriving in January 2020...

John & I have both been through so much, and really deserve the chance to give each other a purpose and for something amazing to come out of something so tragic for both of us. I can't wait to meet him, and to have my very own forever home with a comfy bed and all the love and cuddles that I deserve...

We just need a bit of help with the cost involved to make it a reality by raising at least £1,000 towards all the fees. If you can please spare a few pounds to help our fairy-tale ending come true for me and my new dad, we would both be forever grateful. We promise to keep you updated along the way with lots of updates and photos of our progress, and this happy ending would change both our lives...Many thanks for any donation, big or small, every penny will make a difference...
