The Concannon Family Needs Our love And Support.

My brother-in-law Chris is an amazing human being, husband, and father. He and my sister have two beautiful children aged 8 and 10. About a month ago, Chris went into the ER for shortness of breath and fatigue, among other symptoms. After observation and blood tests he was told he there was a strong chance he had cancer. After many blood and platelet transfusions, a hospital stay, and travelling to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute three hours away, he was informed he has leukemia with a genetic mutation that makes him resistant to traditional chemo, dropping his cure rate to less than 50%.
Chris will be undergoing special treatment over the next several months, involving more lengthy hospital stays and travel to and from Boston. This treatment will include a newly approved form of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. He is expected to be out of work for up to a year, possibly more.
Unfortunately, despite working for the State of Maine for 17 years, he was recently informed he does not have disability benefits. Friends and coworkers have generously donated benefit time to him, but once that is exhausted he will not be receiving any income. Chris and his wife will be dealing with not just the devastating cancer diagnosis, but the loss of an entire income while trying to balance a mortgage, two children, and piling medical bills. Nobody should have to worry about how they’re going to pay for a life-saving treatment. Please help Chris and his family; every bit helps. If you are unable to contribute financially, please consider donating the blood and/or platelets that are currently keeping Chris alive, or visit bethematch.org.
