In Memory Of Aden Lake

Aden was born on 6/1/10 with very complicated heart defects. He was gifted with a new heart on 11/11/15. Since he received his gift of life on Veterans Day, he had a very close connection with the veterans. We moved to Grand Junction in December 2016 and Aden immediately fell in love with the city and it’s people. From the highest of highs to the lowest of lows he was truly a Grand Junction Tiger. Aden attended Church on the Rock in the Redlands and was a very proud Royal Ranger. He also loved being a Pear Park Panda. Due to a complication that occurred in 2018 during a heart cath biopsy, Aden was scheduled for surgery to repair a damaged valve in his heart on 9/18/19. During his surgery some complications arose and Aden never regained consciousness. Aden truly had a heart for Grand Junction and made such an impact in this town. Everywhere he went he reached out and touched people. He was like a little octopus full of love and joy who had tentacles that wrapped around everyone who crossed his path. Even though Aden walked through life with many difficulties you would never hear him complain. When you met him he never mentioned that he had 6 open-heart surgeries along with dozens of others. When you found out his story you were astonished and couldn’t believe that this wonderful little child had gone through so much, because he pushed through his pain. He pushed through his difficulties. He pushed through taking all of his medications and all of his treatments. However he would come to me in private and say “I’m a little tired can you rub my feet? I think I need to take some Tylenol”. Then he would rest for 30 minutes and off he would go again. His love for God and the people in his life was amazing. The people in his life consisted of everyone who crossed his path. His love for his peers was larger than life itself. Aden’s unexpected death on 9/19/19 was a tragedy that Aden would want translated into hope for others less fortunate than him. I am starting this fund so that Aden can help other kids enjoy life as much as he did. The gifts that Aden will give to other children through your donations will include funding their participation in sports, community activities and other functions that they would otherwise not be able to afford.
