39 Yr Old Mom Of 3 w/stage 4 Brain Cancer
Donation protected
This is my little sister Tammy. She has been battling cancer for the last almost 7 years. She had breast cancer, sternum and brain cancer which were all treated with surgery, chemo and radiation. We found out 3 years ago that due to the intense radiation to her head she ended up with S.M.A.R.T syndrome ( short version she has undetectable mini seizures and thickening of her brain tissue as in her case It is irreversible). She has been living with me for just over 3 years now and in February I took her to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Mn where they found a white spot on her MRI that hadn’t ever showed up there before. Her neurologist wanted another scan done in late Spring early Summer to see if it was just scar tissue from the tumor that had already been removed or if the spot grew then he would know it was another tumor. In June she had one done and the scan showed that the small almond shaped spot we saw in February had now taken over 3/4 of her brain. She has a 21 (yr old w/2 young kids), a 18yr old w/learning disabilities, and a 8 yr old. The two oldest are both low income and can barely make ends meet as is, let alone pay for a funeral.
I talked to her hospice nurse yesterday and was told that she thinks because of her pain in her head, back and extended belly that the cancer has now spread to her bones and possibly her liver. Back at the end of June I was told she had about 6 months to live. It has been 3 and things are going down hill faster than I ever imagined or even wanted to admit to. She just had her 39th birthday on September 2nd. Life is so unfair sometimes. I am creating this page for her children to be able to have the kind of funeral they want for their mother but cannot afford.
