Union Member In Need.

I am reaching out to you on behalf of one of our own. Michael Leavey has been with Dix Hills Fire District as well as Kings Park FD in Suffolk County NY for the better part of 20 years. This was after he responded to the 911 attacks on our nation in NYC. Mike has been an integral part of our team but his passion for fire suppression unfortunately outlived his ability to do what he loves. In December of 2006 while Mike was on shift at Dix Hills, our paramedic noticed he was pale and looked "off". An EKG revealed that his heart was skipping every other beat. For this he needed a pacing device. Mike pushed on but was told his condition would worsen. Recent evaluation revealed that Michael's heart was pumping at only 15%. Cardiologists explained that he had the heart of a sick 90 year old. At 42 years old Mike is now on permanent disability  and has fallen on difficult times as he waits on the transplant list for a new heart. Mike's wife has stood by his side and son that he's trying to put through college; while he sits unable to work while waiting for a new heart. I am asking for any help with a monetary donation for our brother Michael, so he can at least wait for his transplant without worrying how he is going to take care of his family.
