Help Barry, Rosie & Family - Struggle Street

Help Barry, Rosie & their two children Some may have seen the plight of long-time dairy farmers - Barry, Rosie, and their children Lincoln (5) and Annabella (2) on the SBS Series Struggle Street this month. The family lives near Deniliquin in the Riverina in South Western New South Wales, Australia. Riverina is known as the food bowl of Australia. Barry and Rosie are suffering through one of the worst droughts on record. After years battling quietly and proudly, suffering many setbacks, they are in a desperate situation. There is no future for them on their farm whilst there is no rain and the price of milk is low. Their water allocation has been stopped due to drought. They don’t have enough feed for their dairy herd. Their emergency water bore (a bold investment of $50,000 funded by a loan) has failed. With additional drought bills and a low milk price - they had to lay off their afternoon diary workers forcing Rosie to work in the dairy alongside Barry - with both children by her side mornings and nights. This means that their two young children are in the dairy – early and late each day, amongst dairy machinery, cattle, heat and dirt. A few years ago, their son Lincoln strayed from eyesight and got caught in machinery and suffered serious injuries. Specialist treatment is hours away in Melbourne. Getting ongoing care for Lincoln is virtually impossible whilst both parents are needed in the dairy twice a day. Fighting muscular dystrophy whilst juggling the farm, drought and life is tough! The plight of their family, their farm, and their cattle is dire. Barry and Rosie have good strong hearts but empty bank accounts. Lincoln needs specialist care. The cattle need feed, reliable water and the family needs a break. Please help Barry & Rosie to get back on their feet, so they can invest their time to get the medical treatment in Melbourne Lincoln so desperately needs. #sbs_australia #strugglestreet #drought #murraydarlingbasin #milkprice #farmersnevergiveup #musculardystropy #coles #woolworths #farmers #foodbowl #murraydarlingbasinauthority #visitriverena https://www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/video/1608672835527/struggle-street-s3-ep1
A little about the fundraising team - my name is Marion Dare. My mobile is +61 417 072 286. I work in Melbourne in Information Technology. https://www.linkedin.com/in/mariondare/
I went to uni with Barry in Lismore 30+ years ago, and I've spent many a day or two on the farm. I'm the daughter of ex dairy farmers in QLD, so know my way around the front and back end of a cow. I attended Barry & Rosie's wedding on Barry's parents farm up in Lismore & know the absolute joy this family see in the land, their cattle and their family. Barry can name nearly every one of his cows without looking at their ID tags - that's dedication. 100% of funds raised go direct from me to Barry & Rosie via EFT.
