About 1SG Akuna
1SG Jimmy Akuna was the AI of the JROTC program at St. Louis high school for many years. He fostered national pride, taught leadership skills, military skills and life skills. 1SG Akuna's tutelage has motivated cadets to better themselves, better the community and better the world. St. Louis (and sister school) cadets have attended West Point, became officers and NCOs in the military, joined law enforcement, became teachers, business leaders and productive members of society.

Our Plan
We want 1SG Akuna to be forever memorialized at St. Louis School. Thus, we propose creating a 1SG Akuna Monument in the St. Louis School JROTC Battalion. The monument will include:
- Bronze plaque with 1SG's picture and biography.
- Shadow box to honor 1SG's military and educational service.
- Glass case with 1SG memorabilia.
- Petitioning St. Louis School to rename the battalion in 1SG's honor.

How You Can Help
Funding is limited, so we are reaching out to all cadets, faculty and friends of 1SG Akuna to help support this project. With your backing, 1SG Akuna will live forever at St. Louis School.

Monument will be placed outside of 1SG's classroom, directly visible to all who enter and pass by the battalion.
