Kicks for Kids Campaign

A few years ago, the WHIPS Kids started playing school sports for their elementary school here in Lethbridge. I noticed that kids at some of the schools were wearing all sorts of footwear (flip flops, winter boots, barefoot!) but they were the happiest kids on the court, having so much fun just having the opportunity to be on a team and PLAY. I knew the principal at one of the schools we had played at and asked him about it. He shared with me that while schools usually have a two-shoe policy (one indoor, one outdoor), that they don’t because some kids don’t have ANY shoes, let alone athletic footwear - so they wear what they have to play. This got me thinking about how we could help and after years of thought, and getting through sports shut down due to Covid, we are finally at a point where we can get going on getting shoes to kids in need. We have partnered up with the amazing Erin & Shawn Pinder from Runners Soul Lethbridge who have graciously offered their time to help source the shoes at cost. We hope to get as many kids as possible who need them to play sport, or just need a pair, starting in January 2023. Any donation is greatly appreciated. 10 % of proceeds from “Share love” heart shaped caramels will go towards the cause.
