1st Annual Queer and Trans Oldtime Music Gathering
THE FIRST ANNUAL QUEER AND TRANS OLDTIME MUSIC GATHERING (or QTOTMG) will be big fun with even bigger ideas happening under at the Buttermilk Falls CSA and Folk School in Wisconsin, near Minneapolis.
This 3-day retreat and festival (May 8-10, 2020) will foster community and skills for Queer and Trans traditional artists from across the nation. In addition to being the only festival of its kind, the gathering will feature workshops, dancing, facilitated dialogues, group meals, and, of course, MUSIC!
This first year (as much a SUMMIT as an oldtime music weekend) we are asking that only LGBTQ+ identifying folkx attend, but we are seeking allies in the form of sponsorships. It is our NUMBER ONE GOAL that members of our community can attend REGARDLESS OF THEIR MEANS, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO STRUGGLE TO FIND RECOGNITION, REPRESENTATION, AND EQUALITY in the conservative world of traditional arts and crafts.
That's where you come in! To help ensure this gathering flourishes for years to come, we hope you'll consider SPONSORING an attendee for $75-$150, with any additional money going directly to travel expenses that participants will incur and to pay our marvelous professional workshop instructors and the cost of the venue, meals, etc.
Our budget this year is tiny, of course, and we'll appreciate any way that you can help us amplify this active community in vernacular music!
You can find more info on our WEBSITE , and register to attend the event.
