1st Honington RAF Scouts

Hi, my name is Andrew and I’m hoping to raise money for my local Scout group by trekking Mount Kilimanjaro this coming September.

Scouting has always been a part of my life and to see the great things the volunteers do for the kids, with the resources they have, is incredible and some what miraculous considering at times this is minimal.

Scouting has always relied on donations and fundraising by various means which allows the kids to go on adventures, experience new things, learn new skills and broaden their horizons. These experiences and skills hopefully stay in the mind and become great memories and useful life skills in years in come. I can remember a lot of experiences from my time in the different sections and I am pleased to be able to pass these onto the next generation as I hope others will also do.

I’m not asking for much but any little bit which you can spare, will help towards these experiences and memories which will last a life time. Your money could go towards a day at a climbing wall, a day canoeing down the Little Ouse River, a weekend in Wales doing activities at Zipworld or a weekend in Yorkshire trekking around the dales and doing a bit of caving. It could just go towards something as simple as equipment or a get together for all with food, fun and laughter. We like to give the Scouts the opportunity to help make these decisions and join in with the planning to build the necessary skills for later in life.

All these things Scouts offer are experiences which some children may not have the opportunity to experience if they weren’t involved with Scouts and without the voluntary help, support and money raised these things just wouldn’t be able to happen.
