1st Sawley Scout New Build Fundraising

We are the 1st Sawley Scout Group, based in Derbyshire, and have been running for over 70 years. Our success is reflected in the size of our group, we are one of the largest in our District. The skills, adventure and opportunities offered to young people through scouting can never be underestimated.

Our building is used every night (except Saturdays!) We have 2 Beaver colonies, 2 Cub packs, 2 Scout troops and an Explorer unit who all meet here. Weekdays we have various groups use the building and is often hired out for parties.

Our current building is 50 years old, we have had the roof and windows replaced, and other major refurbishments in the past, but the building itself is now beyond economic repair.

Our ‘New Build’ project has been running for some time. We have successfully secured a new 25 year lease for the land from the local council, the plans are drawn up and planning permission has also been granted.

Now for the hard part…Funding!!! We have been running local/small events to assist with the costs so far, but we now need your help to start us on our journey with the 1st stage of the build, which is estimated at £90k.

Our plan for the new building is to open the facilities up to the local community/businesses as we have done in the past and make it a real ‘community hub’.
