Cortez Gave A Kidney, Lets Help Him Get A Car!
I am aunt to a remarkable young man, who after watchin his mom (my sister) Mariam suffer from kidney failure, decided to be a part of the solution for his grandmother (my mom)Patricia. We watched Pat as she is fondly called, start dialysis on Thanksgiving day 2016 which was difficult for us all having just begun mourning the loss of Mariam August 30, 2016. At the time Cortez was just 16 years old. Fast forward about 3yrs and Pat is now on the transplant list in two states, struggling through dialysis 3 times a week and doing all she can to be ready if called for a surgery. Cortez, now 18 asks,"What can I do to see if I'm a match?" Overwhelmed and overjoyed she calls her transplant coordinator and the journey begins. Two disappointing, soul crushing false starts later...Cortez is a match, antibodies are where they should be, the surgical staff is satisfied that he is mature enough. Surgery is a success. Cortez has officially donated a kidney to Pat his grandmother. She has a new lease on life, he has shown those around him a new depth to the love he has for his grandmother. He's off from work and can't lift more than 10 pounds for 4-6 weeks. He was trying to save for a car. Can we help him? He's more than deserving. Please donate to Cortez's car fund.
