Foster Kids Karate Fund

We are a struggling Martial Arts Dojo in Sebastopol with a focus on working with foster kids, group home children, and other at-risk youth. Rent increases, fires, floods, and inexperience with nonprofit funding have put our dojo and the good work that we do in jeopardy. This local family-owned business has been the recipient of the Sebastopol chamber of commerce community service award as well as the Sonoma County and state of California youth friendly business awards. We are a Force for good in our community. We work closely with social services and local schools to provide the best environment possible for the kids who need it the most. We are reaching out this holiday season to try and save our dojo by saving Christmas for not only our own family but hopefully for 20 more kids whose lives could be saved by the experience we offer. We are looking to raise $10,000.00 before Christmas, and this generosity will be directly passed on to 20 worthy students that could not otherwise afford to learn self-defense. For every $500 donated we will gift wrap a certificate for 6 months of free karate, and deliver it to someone on our very large list of students waiting and begging for this opportunity. This is not only a good cause but it is a win-win for everyone involved. Our family that has sacrificed so many Christmases in a row and so much of ourselves to provide this service may actually get to have something of a Christmas this year or at least pay our rent so that we have a home in which to enjoy the holidays. And best of all, 20 children who may have thought they would never be able to attend a karate class or be part of a martial arts family will get to have just that. Self-defense, self-confidence, extended family, hiking, outdoor adventures, the world truly awaits these kids in the environment that we have created at the dojo, so help us to sustain that environment for years to come by granting us this sorely-needed Kickstart into the new year.
