Urgent: Study Abroad In India

Greetings everyone! I am Brea Brown, a junior at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. I am a first generation college student from a low income household containing just my single mother and I. My major is exercise physiology with a minor in Spanish. I plan to become a occupational therapist with my own family practice and to also start a non-profit. I am also considering if I would like to take two years off to volunteer my time with the Peace Corps before getting a masters degree. I have recently been accepted to Pembroke’s study abroad program to have the amazing opportunity to serve the community of India! While in India, we will volunteer with abused women and children, the homeless, elephants, and much much more. My goal is to raise $3,000 to cover the full cost of the trip. The cost of the trip will cover airfare, health insurance, room accommodations, miscellaneous items such as bus fare and our final dinner. We will be abroad for a total of two weeks during Maymester (May 10th-24th). Serving the community is very dear to my heart because I feel that everyone should have a chance of equity. I am also apart of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and one of our key values is “Service to All mankind” and I will live by this mission.
