Tom’s Transplant Journey

Donation protected

Tom was diagnosed with amyloidosis back in October. It is a rare blood disease. He has been having chemotherapy shot treatments once a week for 8 weeks. This was to slow the disease. He is now preparing to get a stem cell transplant. They have harvested his good white Cells and we are now waiting for the next step. We are not sure of the exact timeframe for the transplant but will find out soon. When he gets the transplant he will need to stay in Rochester for approximately 3 weeks if everything goes well.

This has been hard on Tom and Deb financially. Between both of them missing work for appointments, treatment and having to travel to Rochester almost every day, it has taken a toll. After the transplant, 24/7 care is required as well as staying away from home. Then there is the continued long term recovery. There are many impeding bills and other medical costs building up now and they will continue to after the transplant as well. We appreciate every single donation, every share his story receives and every prayer sent. This is going to be a journey and we know Tom will continue to have a smile on his face through the whole thing.

Thank you for reading Tom’s story, we will continue to update everyone through caring bridge as we get more information!
