Canadian Animal Rescue Collective Craft Guild
As of January 7th, 2020 it is estimated that 10.3 million hectares of forest have been burnt in Australia's wildfires killing an estimated 1 billion animals.
Australian officials, with the help of her allies and Commonwealth countries (including Canada), are hard at work fighting the fires and trying to save as many human lives as possible. Fire fighters, animal rescue workers, and volunteers are also working hard to try and save as many wildlife and domestic animals as possible. The Animal Rescue Collective in Australia has put out a call for help for donations to help feed, treat, and provide the necessities of life for their overloaded shelters.
Canadian seamstresses, crafters, and quilters are beginning to donate their time and skills to produce items such as bat blankets, possum homes, joey pouches, etc throughout various hubs across the country. Anyone interested in donating all-natural fabrics, yarn, etc are encouraged to look up the group at facebook.com/groups/659914731079141/ and see a list of approved products and contact their local hub.
For those who are unable to participate or donate time to help manufacture these products, cash donations can be made here. These donated funds will go towards helping cover any costs in shipping, may be used to buy materials needed to complete projects, and any remaining funds will be sent directly to vetted shelters and organisations in Australia to help with the increased cost of food and medical supplies.
PLEASE NOTE: NO CASH DONATIONS ARE BEING SOLICITED BY OR ACCEPTED BY ANY OF OUR LOCAL VOLUNTEERS. ANY PERSON ATTEMPTING TO SOLICITE CASH DONATIONS OR INSISTING ON CASH IS NOT DOING SO WITH THE APPROVAL OF THIS ORGANISATION AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS POTENTIALLY FRAUDULENT.
We thank you for your time and look forward to your assistance.
