This is on behalf of our Friend Carol Douglas. She is a fellow RN who is over the past 8 months has being fighting Uterine Cancer. After receiving 5 of 6 chemo treatments, she suffered other complications. She developed an infection in her foot that has led to a pending amputation of her foot up to the ankle. Thus, ending her career as an RN. To add further insult to injury, her employer let her go after spending a significant amount of time away from work related to the chemotherapy. She was let go a day before her last treatment and two weeks before she eligible to apply for FMLA to protect her employment. Now she she is unemployed, soon to be uninsured, and possibly homeless related to lack of income to maintain living. Prior to her illness and further complications hindering that, she is a single mother of a 15 year old daughter. She was also caring for her 91 year old mother. Her current financial restraints will displace her and her family with very little outside support. This is before attempting to figure out how to conduct life and provide for her family as an amputee and hopeful cancer survivor, if treatment is effective. First and foremost, she and her families well-being is in gods hands. We certainly pray for Gods healing and her strength while she continues to battle through these medically emergent trying times. While we certainly ask for you prayers during this trying time in Carol and her family’s lives, she could use all the monetary support she can get. This request for support is directed not just to family, friends and immediate community but to fellow Nurses and those that know the experience of dealing with cancer and/or amputation. If you find it in you heart to help this family it would be a major blessing. Thank you for reading this and also in advance for any effort monetary to support this family in need.
