Surgery Costs For , Emily Zirpola

Donation protected

Hello, This is John Zirpola. My Lovely Daughter posted this Go Fund Me page while we were in the midst of making decision on my wife Emily's immediate need for Surgery. Since the onset Emily has had 3 surgeries. The first was to relieve pressure to her brain as fluid from her spinal cord was moving to her brain but the exit was being blocked by the Cyst/Tumor creating Hydrocephalus. In tandem, an uncommon occurrence when inserting a  Ventricle Drain is a blood clot. She underwent emergency surgery hours later to relieve that pressure issue. She was slow to recover which created concern That was February 5th. On February 14th she was prepped for Surgery to remove what was originally determined to be a Hemangioblastoma , which are vascular tumors of the central nervous system that originate from the vascular system, usually during middle age. Sometimes, these tumors occur in other sites such as the spinal cord and retina. They may be associated with other diseases such as polycythemia,  and Von Hippel–Lindau syndrome. While the operation was deemed a success, she was once again slow to recover. Because of the rarity of the Tumor the biopsy took way longer to bring to summary. Currently it has been recommended that she convalesce an additional 2 weeks until she can heal enough for another MRI to determine the next steps. This Brings us to almost 6 weeks on Hospital care.

The Serious Caveat is that while Emily has always attended to every detail, when she accepted her new Position, she overlooked signing up for Healthcare. We now attribute this over site to this tumor which took (we are told) up to two years to develop. In essence she actually thought she did sign up. It went unnoticed by me as I have different benefits.

So in essence our family is faced with well over $350,000 in upcoming Hospital Bills. Obviously we want the Best for my wife Emily and with a little help from our friends we might be able to achieve this.

Thank you in Advance for Helping Nina Reach Her (Our) Goals,
John

"Hi everyone! I didn’t plan on making the situation super public but as some of you know my mothe has been having a rough couple of months. For a long time she hasn’t been really able to walk without falling or feeling like falling. At first she assumed that it was just a hydration/lack of vitamin issue so she went to get an IV. That didn’t do anything. After that, her feet started to gradually turn purple. I kept telling her that she needs to get checked but if you know her you know she likes to handle everything herself. We ended up basically forcing a hospital visit on her and brought her. They checked her out and ended up finding a brain tumor which was causing the blockage and holding back most of the fluid that needed to flow. They started the first procedure right away and that was just to put a catheter through it to drain it. After that, they checked on her again and the neurosurgeon didn’t like the way he put it in so they did another one pretty much right after that one. That night she wasn’t really responding well and had weirdish vitals and a few minor seizures so they knew something was wrong. They found a blood clot so then a bigger procedure came along which now made the recovery time longer. They don’t know if it’s an active or benign tumor yet or a date that surgery will be. She’s a strong woman who needs lots and lots of prayers right now and all I want is for my mom to be okay. I started this GoFundMe to help cover the costs of all of this because literally a hospital giving you Tylenol is basically $300 lol.. but I just know we’ve been struggling in general with that type of stuff so I just want her to feel like everyone has her back ❤️. I will post updates. Thank you everyone. I’m sorry I may have left out a few things but this is all the energy I have to type this ~ Nina"
