Welcome to Delaney Strong Fundraiser!

Delaney Sky Hopf is a beautiful 7-year old girl, full of spunk. She is smart, caring, giving, loves to read, play mommy to her dolls, and be creative in everything she does. She touches every heart that enters her life.

Sadly, she was recently diagnosed with Chiari Malformation Type 1 (CM-1), "is a structural abnormality at the back of the brain and skull". With much research and visits to top Pediatric Neurosurgeons, it has been decided brain decompression surgery is a must, otherwise, the symptoms related to the condition can become permanently debilitating.

Delaney comes from a single-parent home with lots of love and strength from both Mom, Melissa and Brother, Brody. Melissa is a school teacher who will need to take time off to care for Delaney as a single parent during and post-surgery. Brody is an amazing big “brudder” (as Delaney calls him) but he is also a young man (22) going to college and working two jobs.

Melissa needing to take time off from work will have a detrimental financial effect on the family. This burden should not be part of the process. In an effort to help the family of Delaney Sky, any monetary support is welcomed. Please show your support and consider giving just a little to help lessen this burden.

They are already set to stay (4-7 days) at the Ronald McDonald House, but meals can be costly while at the hospital. Recovery 4-6 weeks at home.

"A Chiari Malformation is a structural abnormality at the back of the brain and skull. Normally, a large hole in the base of the skull accommodates the connection between the brain and spinal cord. This connection point is surrounded by fluid that can move freely between the head and spine. In someone with a Chiari malformation, the back of the brain (the cerebellum), is pushed down through this opening, creating pressure on the spinal cord and restricting that fluid movement between the head and spine. That pressure leads to a wide variety of symptoms, the most common being headache and neck pain, which typically gets worse with exertion (exercise, coughing, sneezing, and even laughing). Another frequent complaint is temporary tingling or numbness in the hands and fingers."
