Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to read this campaign. I am raising funds for my cousin Todd who could really use everybody support and prayer.
Imagine if you were severely disabled. Making friends would be more challenging. Job opportunities would be limited. When you’re in a wheelchair, “eating right and exercising” is not impossible; but for some people, like Todd it really IS impossible. On a good day, Todd manages his life as well as he can for a mentally-disabled adult, who lives with his parents in a double-wide trailer in Vacherie, Louisiana. “Double-wide” might sound big and sturdy, but with three adults (one of whom is in an oversized wheelchair) it is not big enough. In fact, the doorways are not wide enough, and the floors were not built to bear the weight of Todd and his wheelchair. Worst of all, the most arduous task of the day is getting in and out of his home, without a ramp. Yet despite these daily setbacks, and literally uphill battles, he remains the most cheerful, sweet and loving person you could ever imagine. He is mentally challenged, quadriplegic, and epileptic but nothing keeps him from smiling and offering words of good cheer to everyone around him. Lately, most of the people he’s interacted with are hospital staff members due to some recent downturns in his health. Todd has suffered through several debilitating seizures that landed him in the hospital. Despite a lack of visitors, his spirits remain high. His cheerful demeanor remains intact, even though he is racking up hefty medical bills, that he has no way to pay. The seizures have weakened him and made the difficulty of getting in and out the trailer an even more exasperating and frightening experience. Once inside, the floors are buckling, and he cannot access many other areas within the home due to the size of his wheelchair. His limited mobility makes him a virtual prisoner in his own home, which adds to the escalating stress levels of aging parents caring for an adult disabled son. Todd is undergoing the “trifecta of troubles,” the perfect storm of constant seizures, a very bad urinary tract infection and c-diff which is inflammation of the colon caused by the antibiotics treating his infections and there is no relief in sight. We are going to ask for your support because it is much needed. We can change a few things that would make his life so much easier; like adding a new ramp, buying a wheelchair accessible van and contributing to medical bills. If you make a one-time donation to Todds medical fund, with enough support, we can build a ramp for him to safely access his home, for starters. Any donation is gratefully accepted and we want to thank you for reading this, saying a prayer, adding to his medical fund. If ever a person needed your help, it’s him, and it’s right now. Thank you, in advance.
